Mindset Monday - All Gas, No Brakes
“Just keep your foot on the gas until you run out of road” – Sam Harris
Over the Thanksgiving weekend I was scrolling through my INSTA feed and I started seeing memes about how the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are the least productive of the year.
Many people take their foot off the gas and start to think about and plan for “next year”.
There is nothing wrong with planning for 2025…but there are 29 days left to make an impact.
29 days to pick up ground on your competitors.
29 days to sharpen the axe.
29 days left to plant seeds that you will harvest in the first quarter.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that most of the real estate and mortgage industry have a slow start to each year. They took their foot off the gas and now they are coming out of the gate flat footed, with no momentum. We then try to ride the excitement of the “new year, new me” wave to get ourselves going again.
Don’t let that be the case this year. Don’t let that happen to your partners this year.
Here is the challenge for the next 29 days.
Call your referral partners.
Tell them you want to make sure we have as big of a 1st quarter as possible together.
Tell them that most people are taking their foot off the gas and there is an opportunity for market share.
Ask them if they want to do an accountability challenge from now to the end of the year.
Set up targets for handwritten notes, client calls, cold calls, door knocking, etc.
Set up a daily or regular check-in (MON, WED, FRI) 30 mins max and discuss what you did, exchange ideas and hold each other accountable.
Your partners will appreciate it and it will result in an extra first quarter deal or two.
**Now of course enjoy your time with family and the holidays, I will. Just don’t let it make you complacent. Don’t let it suck you in and be an excuse as to why you and your partners don’t win early in 2025. If you want 2025 to be one of the best you have ever had, you have to come out of the gate strong.
How you start the race is so important and that work starts now. A slow start to the production year is hard to overcome if you want to win.
Fun fact: ZERO NFL teams have won the Super Bowl after starting 0-3. Only 6 since 1979 have even made the playoffs.
Get after it!
These are some really big ones, but they can be relative. If you haven’t run ever don’t do an ultramarathon but a ½ marathon is 100% doable. I would suggest ones that are single events and require you to change your habit to prepare for. That is where big change happens, its not just checking the box of the event.
Haley and team will be doing a recap of the Elevate event this week. I highly suggest you attend. There were some great nuggets. Really hoping we can get Jesse out again, everyone at FW needs to hear that message.
Crush it this week.
